About

Hey, I’m Andrew. Thanks for finding your way here!

This site is a collection of my most cherished memories while traveling and living abroad since 2021.

These stories transport me back in time and all around the world, to far away places and moments long passed. They’re the best ones I have.

In short, this blog is like my memoir. It’s a personal history and a firsthand account of some of my favorite experiences over the past few years.

Here I am at A-Mei Teahouse, Jiufen, Taiwan

“Be a traveler, not a tourist.”

-Anthony Bourdain

The Internet has no shortage of travel blogs. If you’re looking for tips and strategies to plan your trip, then this site might not be the best place – although I do have a few guides for the places that I know better than anyone, like Bangkok.

My goal is not to guide you, nor to sell you something. I’m not interested in writing the world’s 300th guide to some city I visited for 2 days and that I only kind-of liked, if I’m really being honest with you.

(You’re always welcome to Contact me if you’d like some guidance on a place I’ve visited – but our conversation will be separate from this collection.)

You also won’t find any affiliate links on this site. Nothing against them, it’s just not what I’m going for. If you gain something from my stories and want to give back, I will humbly accept if you feel like buying me a coffee, and I also have some merch you can buy if you really like it.

But apart from that, I don’t get paid for this. The stories themselves are my reward.

I made this site to relive my best memories. It’s for me – but I’m happy to share this with you too.

If that sounds good to you, then you’re in the right place.

Welcome To Here.

On this site, you’ll find stories about my time in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Dubai, and Taiwan.

I started the blog in 2021 when I bought a ticket to Thailand. One way, one passenger. I had my doubts (as anyone would) but I put faith in my ability to make things work.

Now here I am, nearly 3 years later, still alive and in one piece.

During that time, I’ve traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, plus a few other places.

I’ve called Thailand my home for the better part of two years. I speak Thai at a very high level (Thai people call me fluent; sadly they are wrong) and I met my girlfriend, Cream, when I lived in Chiang Mai. As you’ll notice in almost every article, she’s a big part of these adventures too.

Cream and I lived in Bali for a couple months, then I did a retreat to compose music on a remote island in the Philippines for a while. Now we live in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve visited home a couple times, but I have no plans and no desire to move back to the U.S. anytime soon.

I’ve also taken somewhere around a bajillion photos. You can find the best ones in my Galleries.

Photos like this:

Ma Pi Leng Pass, Ha Giang, Vietnam
Xiangde Temple, Taroko National Park, Taiwan

Here’s that link again to the Galleries page if I’ve convinced you to check it out.

Anyway…

Thanks for joining this adventure. I really hope you get something out of these stories like I have.

Also, feel free to send me a quick note and say hi, where you’re reading from, and what you’re most interested in. I’d love to hear from you!

Wherever your path leads, may it be enjoyable and enriching.

See you in the next one,

Andrew
